Do you have a proven recipe for healthy home-made cat food?

In view of the recent pet food recalls, I've been seriously thinking about making my own cat food. I'd love to find a good recipe, a balanced diet for an older cat especially.

In fact, I have an animal website, and would like to include such information on it, so if you have a dog food recipe for the doglovers, that would be great too! :)Do you have a proven recipe for healthy home-made cat food?
Here's some recipes:

There are books you can get with recipes, maybe even at your local library. I saw a guy on Oprah who has a few books out. I'll pick up one of the books once it gets shipped to my library. Both books contain information regarding pet nutrition.

The book featured on the show:

The Nature of Animal Healing: The Definitive Holistic Medicine Guide to Caring for Your Dog and Cat by Dr. Marty Goldstein

The book from my library:

The Nature of Animal Healing :The Path to Your Pet's Health, Happiness, and Longevity

There is no one ';recipe'; for making your cats food. I use ground organic chicken and turkey and mix it with a supplement powder I get from Feline Instincts. I have been feeding my cats that for seven years with no health problems.

I also belong to a Yahoo group WholeCatHealth and that is a very good group to belong to to support you in finding the right recipe for your cat(s) and helping to make the switch from commercial to raw.

To join go to http://yahoogroups.com and put in a search for that group. I like that one in particular as the discussion is very open and accepting of all ';recipes';. The group leader, Rosemary, is very knowledgeable and helpful.

The leader of the Holisticat group (no longer with Yahoo) has written a book, ';Whole Health for Happy Cats'; (Sandy Arora) and that is available through Amazon for under $20.
when my cat got sick from a change in food the vet had me boil chicken breast and rice for the cat. you have to cut the breast into fine pieces and mix it with the rice. no seasoning at all. also tuna in spring water does the trick
Hi

Do you know about cat nutrtion? That commercial canned is better for a cat then dry foods. That prepared foods made at home is a raw food diet? In any event, this link tells you how to make cat food and also gives alot of nutritional info from the home page. Best of luck

Hello..what do you mean 'Proven'; as in their cat lived to a healthy old age, that's not something that can be proven...100% Nutrionally complete is scientifically done when you buy pre made pet foods..I do have a homemade recipe site on my profile where you add other igredients to their product it makes a homemade food, but no one in here can prove such a thing, if they say they can, chances are they're not telling you the truth or are mistaken..especially cat food..the only other thing I can tell that I know some use ..is the RAW food diet, but most say ..';Yuckooo'; !!!Take Care

Go here, its a pricey diet but its the most natural and healthy way to feed your pet. I heard about it from a customer I had in PetSmart once.
