I need some ideas! I'm from the south, and all my favorite recipes include meat and lots of seasoning, and of course lots of carbs. I'm going to lay off the carbs and such. And try to cook leaner meats. Also, I have never been big on fruit, but I need to eat it and feed it to my kids more. So any recipes and suggestions are appreciated! So I'm going to get healthy.....making grocery list, Suggestions? Recipes?
When you go shopping and buy canned or packaged products, check the labels for salt and fat content. Also reduce the amount of meat you eat and substitute for vegetables. Try cutting up the fruit and having it with diet yogurt or even juice it rather than eating it plain. So I'm going to get healthy.....making grocery list, Suggestions? Recipes?
Here are a couple of great tasting lean recipes/dinner ideas that I have tried and really work!:
1. Lemon Pepper Chicken
1 bottle Italian dressing
1 bottle honey dijon dressing
1 bottle balsamic vinaigrette
1-2 tsp. lemon pepper
Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Marinate 1-2lbs of chicken (overnight for best results) and grill.
2. Parmesan Chicken
6 Chicken breasts (boneless %26amp; skinless)
1 jar pasta sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese
Bake chicken, pour sauce over chicken, sprinkle cheese on top of sauce, place back into oven until cheese is melted.
3. Open faced hamburgers
Prepare lower % fat hamburger patties by frying or grilling. Place cooked patties on the bottom half of low carb whole wheat buns and top with veggies.
4. Fettucini Alfredo Chicken
Prepare chicken breasts and top each one with 1/4 cup of Alfredo sauce.
try more chicken and turkey. for my chicken breast i always buy skinless and boneless. for good flavor try marinating your chicken breast in fat free italian dressing. it adds great flavor and brings very little to your diet, its great. seasonings just make slight changes try mrs dash. there are lots of varieties and blends so it will be easy to find one you like. the fruit idea is great you'll find that if that's what you have around to snack on it will be easy for them to choose them. oh by the way on the carbs like your bread just switch to a multi-grain and try to stay away from white bread, pasta, white potatoes, etc. those things convert right to sugar. good luck
1.) OK to cut back on carbs but don't cut them out altogether. The key is balanced nutrition.
2.) When making salads don't make them all lettuce. Lettuce has almost no nutrition which will cause your body to begin craving things ending up with taking in more calories. Make sure to include other greens like spinach in the salad.
WHOLE WHEAT RICE AND PASTA.
100% NATURAL JUICES AND AN APPLE A DAY SHOULD BE GOOD.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO EAT FRUIT MAKE SHAKES AND SMOOTHIES.
V8 SPLASH AND V8 IS GOOD. YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE V8 SPLASH.
I'LL GET BACK TO YOU ON MORE.
